Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 49

Hello again. Not much to report around here. The week was super busy and went by quickly. Which I guess is a good thing.

I'm always looking for new party inspiration. With it being graduation season this one popped up on my Pinterest feed. I am in love with the black, white, and gold color scheme right now. Plus this sign is perfection for a graduation! Perfect for a high school or college graduation party.

View the rest of this party design here. What a fun website to get hooked on! Excuse me while I go pin half their website ;)

Until next post...xoxo Becca

Conference Wrap Up

Several posts ago I told you I would share pictures from the recent conference I helped plan. Growing up I watched my mom volunteer for many things (Girl Scout troop leader, teacher's aide, field trip chaperone, etc.). On top of that I remember her coordinating a lot of events. From an early age I understood the dynamics of event management and came to love it. Lots of moving parts and requires OCD organizational skills...ding ding ding that's my favorite kind of task in a nut shell! Two years ago I was asked to be a room host to my department's annual conference. Afterwards, I had a lot of suggestions and subsequently volunteered to be on the planning committee last year and this year. Alongside two other wonderful women, catering plus the look and feel of the event was now our area. We couldn't have pulled this off without each other and I can honestly say I learned so much from all staff members I worked with. Below are some pictures of the event, a big thank you to our department's photographer extraordinaire!

Breakfast - Yogurt Parfait Bar with yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and banana bread croutons and Donut Bar (Dunk, Drizzle, and Dust your own donut)

Lunch - California Chicken, Pan-seared salmon with cucumber dill sauce, Grilled eggplant parmesan, purple roasted rosemary potatoes, broccoli with butter and sea salt, and market salad station (build your own salad)

Dessert - Assorted French macaroons, tarts, and cannoli dippers

Floral Arrangements & Table Linens

Reception - Andoille Wellington, Southwest Chicken Rangoon Puff w/ Cilantro Cream, Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates wrapped in Prosciutto, Chicken Cordon Bleu Puffs, Meat and Cheese Display w/ dried fruit, assorted chutney, pickled and grilled vegetables, hummus, and vegetable dip, seasonal fresh fruit, BLT wraps, Tarragon Chicken Salad Tart, Smoked Salmon Roll on Cucumber Round, Prosciutto Wrapped Melon

Setting up before the reception

A special thank you to the catering team!

Until next post...xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 43

I love when a Pin becomes inspiration and a jumping off point. It spurs creativity. A few weeks ago I shared I was on a committee to plan a conference. That conference took place yesterday (which is why this post is coming to you on a Saturday). In our search for fun catering ideas we came across donut bars (shared here) and cannoli bites!

Cannoli Bites | Cooking Classy
For the conference ours were a little different. Little clear boats filled with the cannoli cream and a couple of cannoli shells for dipping. Cannoli dippers! Thanks to our catering team who came up with the fun idea. All inspired by this pin!

Hopefully I will be sharing some pictures from the event soon. Until next post...xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 37

Favorite Pin Friday on a Saturday? Yeah well I'm a slacker and was super busy this week. I work in higher education which means the students are back on campus to start the semester. They kept me busy!!!! Guess what, the first week of class is over and we can get back to our regularly scheduled program.

Do you like donuts? I like donuts! Why not have a DIY donut bar at your next event? A committee I'm on thought it would be a fun breakfast feature at an upcoming event. Think outside the box and fun things will happen.

Sprinkled with Love

Hi everyone and welcome back! Over the weekend I hosted a baby sprinkle for one of my best friends. "What's a baby sprinkle" you say? Wellllll, it's to celebrate baby number 2, 3, 4... but not as formal as a baby shower. When you've already had one baby you don't really need the big ticket items for the additional little ones. A sprinkle focuses on the every day necessities (i.e. diapers, wipes, clothes, gift cards).

My friend is having another boy and I wanted to give her a day to relax with the girls and celebrate her little man. I think I accomplished that :) Enjoy some pictures from the sprinkle.

I loathe baby shower games. So I opted for activities everyone could choose to participate in. First up, instead of a guestbook I asked each guest to create a scrapbook page and write a message for baby Aiden. They did an great job, the pages look fun and have the cutest messages! It was easy, I picked up all the supplies from Hobby Lobby and watched for sales on scrapbook items. Everything purchased was 50% off. #winning

Next up was a "guess baby's birthday" activity. I drew a calendar and each guest was asked to place a sticker on the day they thought baby Aiden would be born and sign it. Then I put it in a frame for my friend to keep. Can't wait to see who wins! :)

Thanks for making the diaper cake Carrie!
Food: All us girls know food at showers is pretty typical. For once I didn't stray too far from a typical menu, but I did make it easy on myself by using Chick-fil-a chicken salad and fruit tray. All I had to do was buy croissants, make a side dish, and put all the Chick-fil-a items in nice serving dishes. The punch was easy too. 2 packets of Blue Raspberry Lemonade Kool-Aid and 2 2-liter bottles of Sprite. Easy, easy, easy! The beverage dispenser was a deal I grabbed a few weeks ago from Sur la Table.

The fruit was so pretty it needed it's own photo ;) Plates from Crate and Barrel's Cambridge 2-Tier Server
Easy favor, animal crackers
Thanks for coming ladies!
Next event: a sip and see ;) Until next post...xoxo Becca

Serve Them in Style

Wrapped up a fun weekend which included a girl's wine night at my house and a superhero party for a very special 3 year old. Both events were fun, but Sunday was a lazy day for me and I highly enjoyed the down time. As many of you have probably gathered by now, I love to entertain. There's something about having a house full of people and hearing conversation and laughter that gives me joy. The details that go into planning are what get me excited; the theme, menu, décor, etc.

When it comes to food, display means a lot. A good server or platter is where it's at. When Austin and I got married I had lot of serving pieces on the registry because I knew one day we would entertain. Of course there are always a million more I'd like to own, but that comes with time. Here are some I've discovered while "window shopping" online. P.S. beautiful platters make great gifts...especially if you fill them with cookies ;)

Don't forget to label your food too. There are a number of ways to make sure people know what they're piling on their plate. Maybe that will be a post for next week...

I purchased the Sur la table ombre beverage dispenser and it's everything I wanted it to be! Holds 3 gallons and the beautiful hand blown elements make it one of a kind. What event(s) are you planning next? Until next post...xoxo Becca
