Goodness did it rain this weekend?! So cold and soaking wet. Like a crazy person I ventured out into the rain to Bryan/College Station to visit a great friend who moved there recently. It was totally worth it though! We had brunch at Madden's ummmm delicious! I highly recommend it. Then it was off to shop a local Christmas market and a few other stops before attending an a cappella concert on TAMU's campus. It was so much fun! Two very talented groups of students.
As usual, Sunday was filled with football and the hubs made a yummy chili.
Not ready for the work week to begin, but so goes the life of an adult. Until next post...xoxo Becca

Weekend Recap: Thanksgiving
It's no fun being sick during the holidays. One of the reasons posts have been sporadic. However, my skin appreciated the absence of makeup while I was sick. Since the hubs had to work Thanksgiving day (shout out to all the men and women who worked the holiday and to their families who also sacrificed), the family postponed Thanksgiving until Friday. It was a relaxing day with tons of yummy foods. In addition to the traditional Thanksgiving dishes, my sister-in-law made Cranberry-Cream Cheese Crescent Bites that were delicious. I also tried a new dessert recipe, Apple Pie Cake. So good (if you like apple pie)! This dessert is the best of both worlds; apple pie and cake! Best served warm with ice cream (this Texas girl says Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla DUH).
It is finally starting to feel like fall around here. Currently simmering away as I write this post is a recipe I found on Pinterest. I printed the recipe in 2014, but never made it. Creamy Chicken and Rice Recipe (one-pot meal). Before publishing this post I will come back and update you on how it turned out. I love a good stew, soup, or chowder when the weather cools down. Not much of a chili person, but every now and then I enjoy some. I am hoping this recipe is warm and "good for the soul."
It is hard to believe the semester is almost over. Two weeks and the students will be gone for the winter break. Always makes me sad to live in a college town when the students are away.
Until next post...xoxo Becca
Creamy Chicken and Rice Recipe update: Delicious! Why did I wait so long to try it? If you decide to give it a try, use 6 cups of chicken broth. The recipe makes a lot, be prepared to feed an army or eat a lot of leftovers ;)

Weekend Recap
| My little love on her way to the vet. |
This weekend was really busy. Saturday I spent most of the day house hunting with a friend who is moving about 45-minutes away. She's starting a new job and wanted another set of eyes to help her in her search. I was more than happy to help! Earlier in the week we spent an evening packing up her current apartment. We made a huge dent by tackling the kitchen. p.s. she bribed me with pizza and wine :P Of course I said I would help! Super sad she's moving away, but excited for the opportunities her new position will offer her and I'll have some place to visit when I just need to get out of town. Better have that spare bedroom ready for me girl! :)
Why is it every time I go to pack for a vacation I "have nothing to wear"? Talk about annoying, but gives me an excuse to go shopping to see if I can find anything. Sunday the hubs and I dropped Lexi off at the vet to get her caught up on shots and her teeth cleaned. That is an all day affair so after dropping her off we went home and I ventured off to Target and Marshall's to see if anything caught my attention. During my research on Paris I read a lot about safety and most of the suggestions were to blend in rather then looking like a tourist. It's hard to do when you look lost and can't speak French, but I want to give it a go. Luckily the majority of my fashion tastes are "Parisian" (black, white, muted colors, skinny/fitted jeans, flats, booties, pops of color with scarves). Late afternoon we picked up Lexi and took her to Katy where she will be staying while we are gone. Then dinner with the the family to celebrate the hub's birthday. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, the Taste of Texas. The salad bar is amazing! I ate way too much at the salad bar and ended up taking my whole entree to go. That's ok...lunch today!
Had planned on getting a lot of packing done over the weekend, but that didn't happen so I guess tonight's the night haha Wish me luck because I am sure I will over pack.
Until next post...xoxo Becca

Weekend Recap: BOTPW
What a fun weekend! This weekend was the 91st Battle of the Piney Woods (football game between Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin State University) and SHSU won!!! High fives all around. On top of that, it was a good friend's 30th birthday so we celebrated with tailgating, front row seats at the game, a fun night out, and Sunday funday brunch. Sunday night the hubs and I celebrated another great friend's birthday with a small dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in The Woodlands, Johnny's Italian Steakhouse (it's inside the Holiday Inn).
Enjoy some photos from the weekend and have a great Monday!

Weekend Recap: Football Season is Back
Weekends go by fast. What's that about? Every weekend there are multiple events each day and it is hard to fit it all in. Some friends don't get to see us, the hubs and I try our best to see everyone, but we are worn out from the constant going. Luckily we scheduled (yes, scheduled) to have Sunday at home watching football. Hellooooooo fall :) Now Mother Nature, would you please catch up with some cooler weather? I'm ready to wear my #NSale finds!
That explains exactly how I felt on Saturday. The hubs worked an extra job for boy's bid day. For those of you who don't know what bid day is, it is the final event of recruitment, the day the guys receive their bid from a fraternity. Afterwards all the fraternities host parties to celebrate their new members. Since I knew several of the fraternity members at the bid day party the hubs worked I went up to see them and hang out. Let me say...I.AM.OLD. sighhhh I kept wondering where the girls' clothes were since the fabric covering them was so minimal and why they were acting so classless. Shocking! Mom-mode for sure!
Sunday, like I said, was set aside for football (and laundry). A friend wanted to learn how to plan Fantasy Football so the hubs started a league to teach with no pressure of wagers or smack talking. So far I have no idea what I am doing. Any tips are welcome! We grilled dinner and enjoyed the quiet day.
Are your weekends full like ours? How do you give yourself time to relax? Share in the comments below.

Weekend Recap: Memory Lane College Edition
There's nothing quite as good as doing things you used to do when life was simple. You know...before adulting kicked in!
In college and for the 3 years following graduation one of my best friends and I worked together, but we also had a lot of fun together. He's in Houston now and we text all the time, but we don't always get to see each other. With some vacation time to burn he decided to come visit and of course that meant happy hour and a trip to that once favorited bar! This time we opened the bar instead of closing it haha It was awesome to see him!
In college my roommate and I could talk for hours on end. We have a lot of great memories over the years. Now we're both busy; she has two little boys and a job that requires a lengthy commute. We don't see each other much, but when we do its like no time has passed. Saturday we scheduled to have lunch, 4 hours later we finally left the restaurant. Hopefully we can get together more often!
Sunday the hubs smoked a brisket (which has nothing to do with college) and we spent the day relaxing. Nice way to end a busy, fun filled weekend.
What college moments do you wish you could relive?

Easter Weekend Recap
Weekends in the spring and summer seem to stay pretty packed for me. This three day weekend was no different. The hubs worked an extra job at a softball game Friday so a friend and I went and watched the first game of the double header. It was fun and the weather was gorgeous. Saturday the same friend and I went to The Woodlands Margarita Festival. Soooo much fun! The ticket included 8 margarita samples. There were food vendors, shopping, live music, and of course lots of flavored margaritas. We even had one in a pineapple...which leaked on me lol After a few hours at the margarita festival the hubs picked me up and we headed to Katy to spend the rest of the weekend with the family. Chinese takeout for Saturday's dinner followed by a whole lot of yummy food on Sunday after church. All in all a fun, relaxing weekend! Now back to the daily grind...
Until next post...xoxo Becca

Weekend Recap
Hi all! Who can believe it's March!? With the hubs having weekends off (first time in about 6 years) we have been taking advantage of the time together. Basically cramming 6 years worth of stuff into two days every week haha Weekends are fast paced. This weekend was a busy one, but I got to visit with some great friends I don't see often.
If you read Saturday's post then you know Friday was the conference I had been helping coordinate. It went really well and I am glad to have it behind me. The committee will take a few weeks off and then start planning the next one.
Saturday I got brunch with a friend and visited all the boutiques around town. Spring weather has hit so it's time to add to my closet! :)
The hubs and I attended a crawfish boil at a former coworkers house. It was like a mini reunion! So many people I hadn't seen in a long time.
Since one of my best friends was in town for the crawfish boil we decided to go out for drinks. Always good to catch up and to laugh
Sunday was a lazy day. The hubs went to Lake Charles, LA to gamble Saturday night so Lexi and I spent Sunday morning hanging around and doing laundry (adult life!) while he made his way home. We made a delicious steak dinner followed by chocolate chip cookies and called it a night!
What did you do this weekend? Until next post...xoxo Becca
