Plated. A New Kind of Dinner

The hubs and I have spent the last few weeks as subscribers of Plated., a meal subscription service. Plated. offers chef-designed recipes and delivers pre-portioned ingredients to your door once a week. The subscription we have is three meals a week delivered on Wednesday and costs $72 a week ($12 per person per meal).

After making an account you choose recipes for the week from a preset list and select what day you would like the meals delivered.

The ingredients (and recipe cards) arrive in a 100% recyclable box with a jute liner (100% compostable) and gel packs. This keeps your ingredients cold until you get home. Pre-portioned ingredients are shipped in recyclable bottles and bags.

Whether you are comfortable in the kitchen or you're new to cooking, the easy to follow directions make a delicious meal simple.

The hubs and I haven't had a bad meal yet. Our favorites have been the Philly-Style Cheesesteak, Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Beef Stir-Fry, and Chicken Meatball Sliders. The Plated. website also gives nutrition information.

We decided to try Plated. because we wanted something different and easy! It has allowed us to try new meals/ingredients without having to spend a ton eating out and it has also added recipe to the rotation.

Until next post...xoxo Becca

This post is not sponsored by Plated. All meals have been purchased with my own money and opinions are my own.

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 42

Back again for another edition of Favorite Pin Friday!!! Woohooooo it's Friday! The hubs and I attend an alumni event last night and had a really great time. It's always nice to talk to people who appreciate your alma mater like you do.

Sticking with the spring/summer weather trend (do you see more floral below? I can't get enough of it), get ready to bare those shoulders ladies. Keep scrolling for some cute shoulder baring outfits and as a bonus, arm exercises (which I need to get working on pronto). I've said it before, I get a lot of exercise ideas from Pinterest.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Flowers are Sweet...

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Flowers are Sweet...and my hubby is too. He is such a handy man. This weekend we scheduled (yes, scheduled) to be home. We've been going non-stop the last few months and needed a break. By break I mean I stayed home and cleaned. His "break" is watching movies, playing video games, and appeasing my need to have a robe hook and hand towel ring in the bathroom. Ahhhh apartment living :) That wraps up the weekend recap haha

The weather still has me excited about shopping for the new season. Floral is catching my eye this year, which is rather strange because I have never (repeat never) been a floral person.

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 41

Happy Friday! Yesterday was National Drink Wine Day...who participated?! :) My boss let me off work an hour early so I took advantage of the beautiful weather and sat on the porch with Lexi and drank a glass of wine.

Today's post revolves around adult beverages, but baking with them. When we were in Breckenridge (read about it here) we visited the Breckenridge Distillery. The hubs and I had been on a previous trip, but in four years they have really expanded. During the tour/tasting we tried their spiced whiskey. The spices used are inspired by the master distiller's grandmother's pumpkin pie recipe. Talk about delicious. I immediately though it would taste good in a cake. Here are some recipes I thought might be good to try it in.

A Year in Review

To highlight even more that I've been blogging for a year I thought I would do a quick year in review post.

When I started Lexi & Lady and made it known I was blogging I kept getting asked "why" and I explained my reasoning here. It started as a place to be creative and it's still that. It's also where I share our travel adventures (more coming this spring and summer YAY) and anything else I love; food, fashion, projects, etc.

Some of the highest visited posts were my Hubbell & Hudson Bistro review, our Cindo de Mayo party (includes churro cupcake recipe, yum!), discussing leadership after attending Leadercast, the baby sprinkle I hosted for my best friend, how the Thin Blue Line is family, you followed along as I redecorated after the hubs and I sold our house and moved, and you "traveled" with us to California, New Orleans, NYC, and Breckenridge.

I would say it was a pretty busy year. I hope this next year of blogging is just as enjoyable for my family, friends, and followers. Your comments and support mean so much so keep them coming. They motivate me to keep sharing!

Until next post...xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 40

1 year ago last Friday I made my very first post here at Lexi & Lady. I JUMPED outside my comfort zone and decided to share anything that inspired me and every day life. Happy 1 year (+ 1 week) blogiversary! Thanks for hanging in there with me as I share random stuff :)

Today's Favorite Pin Friday focuses on that season right around the corner...spring! While I do love fall/winter clothes (all those cozy sweaters, boots, and scarves), I like the lighter fabrics and colors. Here are a few pins that came up on the Pinterest recently. With temperatures here already reaching high 70s I'm ready to bust out some skirts and pastels heehee

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 39

Pinterest to the rescue! Tomorrow is my mother-in-law's 60th birthday and we're throwing a fiesta! :) I'm in charge of the photo booth props. Good thing Pinterest has everything I need. A quick search yielded a free printable perfect for the event. It's geared toward Cinco de Mayo, but I'll discard any piece reflecting that.

Then that pin led me to this festive sign...

Weekend Recap

The weather was beautiful this weekend so the hubs and I took advantage of it. His family owns property in East Texas so we took the 4-wheelers out and had a great time. We went Friday night and had dinner at a small restaurant in town. Friday and Saturday are "steak night" and let me say...this steak makes my top three steaks of all time. I was so excited to try it I forgot to take a picture lol P.S. the peach cobbler was to die for. I'd make the hour trip just for dinner. Next time I'll remember to take pictures ;)

Saturday we took the 4-wheelers out. Lexi had fun chasing us and tried to "save" mommy when I got stuck in a mud pit. Unfortunately her heroic efforts resulted in chest deep mud and a bath lol We built a fire and had hot dogs and s'mores. I never get tired of s'mores! They're probably my favorite dessert.

Sunday we went to church, had lunch with a friend, ran errands, repotted a plant (because ohhh it was 81 outside!), and had dinner at a friend's house.

Overall a fun and relaxing weekend. Getting to spend weekends with the hubs again is certainly a treat!

I hope each of you had a good weekend! Until next post...xoxo Becca
