Friday Favorites: Christmas Crafts

Three weeks ago my sister-in-laws and I went to Hobby Lobby to get materials to make a wreath for my apartment. There were so many Christmas crafting materials there I got excited for the holiday season. Of course the apartment is too small the really decorate for Christmas, but a nice winter/Christmas wreath on the front door would be nice. I have had my eye on this one basically since Pinterest began!

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 39

Pinterest to the rescue! Tomorrow is my mother-in-law's 60th birthday and we're throwing a fiesta! :) I'm in charge of the photo booth props. Good thing Pinterest has everything I need. A quick search yielded a free printable perfect for the event. It's geared toward Cinco de Mayo, but I'll discard any piece reflecting that.

Then that pin led me to this festive sign...

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 28

Whoa what a busy week! Sorry I missed a post on Monday, but here's a quick recap before sharing my Favorite Pin Friday.

Last Friday the hubs and I attended our friends' rehearsal dinner/welcome party (they had a lot of out of town guests in for their wedding). What a fun time! Saturday was the wedding, it was so gorgeous! I wish I would have captured more photos, but I guess I'll have to wait until the professional ones are available to share a few. This week has been crazy too. I am a staff advisor for a student organization at my university and their first induction ceremony for new members was Monday night. It went well, a couple of hiccups, but that's to be expected with a first time event. Then it was bingo and drinks with some friends. Tuesday and Wednesday involved different celebrations for the hubs' birthday! Unfortunately I was sick on his actual birthday so it wasn't much of a fun day. We'll make up for it soon though. Happy Birthday shout out because I know you read my posts :P

Which brings us to today and Favorite Pin Friday. When it comes to giving gifts I like to be thoughtful (I think I've mentioned this in a previous post) so for the bride and groom I framed scrabble tiles of their name. Not only is it personalized, but we have weekly game night with this couple, so how fitting is it to have a gift made of scrabble tiles?! Inspiration from Listoric.
and for those leftover scrabble tiles you didn't use, here are some other crafty options...

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 24

Can you believe it's the first Friday in October!? Where is this year going? Who has started decorating for Halloween? Last year, my neighbor hosted a girls' craft night. She supplied the snacks and drinks and everyone was instructed to bring whatever craft project they wanted to work on. Best idea ever! I decided to make a Halloween sign for our front door. My inspiration came from Hunters of Happiness.

I loved how simple it was! I added polka dots to give it a little more color. Here's what my version ended up looking like.

I hope you find a fun craft project for Halloween, whether it be something for your front door, a costume, or a party decoration. Until next post...xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 20

TGIF! In my many trips to Hobby Lobby for supplies for the baby sprinkle, I was shocked by how much Christmas decor and craft items were available in JULY. Then I thought, people who would be making/selling Christmas decorations would need to start crafting now. I ran across a cute decoration for a front door on Pinterest. There isn't a website or directions to go with it as it was an image "uploaded by user," but it looks simple enough. This would be an easy to store decoration because of its size. Sometimes I feel like wreaths are just so huge and take up a lot of space!

Guess this means another trip to Hobby Lobby. Happy crafting! Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for visiting.

Until next post...xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 10

Can't believe Favorite Pin Friday is 10 weeks old now. Have you read them all? There are links at the bottom of the post so you can catch up...#FBF lol Today is about DIY 4th of July decorations. Every year the hubs and I throw a 4th of July party and every year it grows! The first year we had about 10 people and last year almost 40. Everyone seems to love it and look forward to it so we keep hosting. I rarely decorate since the party is outside and guests are more interested in BBQ and fireworks. Doesn't mean I can't decorate and Pinterest is full of crafty ideas for a patriotic party! Here are the favorite pins I've run across.

Patriotic Monogram Door Hanger with Burlap Bow | Etsy
This patriotic monogram door hanger would be easy to do. Hit up Hobby Lobby or any craft store to find the wooden letter, paints, and ribbon. Grab some painters tape and you're good to go. This would be a fun project if you have kids who are a little older.

Patriotic String Lights | eHow

So simple! Ballons, glue, yarn, and a string of lights (which you probably have from Christmas!) Another kid friendly project. Good luck with the sticky hands mom and dad ;)

Rag Wreath | Sassy Sanctuary
I think this would be easy, but cutting all those stripes of fabric would take awhile. I like this type of wreath as an alternative to the deco mesh wreaths everywhere.

KariAnne over at Thistlewood Farm shared cute and easy ways to decorate for the 4th. Tell me what you're doing to decorate for 4th of July in the comments below.

I'll be recapping our trip to California in Monday's post. xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 2

It's week 2 of Favorite Pin Friday. If you missed last week, you can read it here. I was browsing through my Backyard Ideas board and came across a cute painted pot. Growing up my mom and I would do this to dress up plain terracotta pots and I hadn't thought about this memory until seeing this pin. It's really a project to be creative with! Big, small, metallic paint, stencils, chalkboard paint, the possibilities are endless. Dress up your indoor or outdoor plants. It's spring and it's time to go crazy with color!

Besides being a project for yourself or your children, this would also be a fun housewarming gift. Stick a plant in it or provide a package of seeds.

Hand Painted Flower Pot
I found this hilarious! From Nicest Things
