#NSale Picks

Bonus post this weekend :P Everyone is talking about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (or #NSale) so I wanted to jump in on the fun and show you my top picks. FYI it's hard to think about fall clothing when it's 100+ degrees outside.

Hope you enjoyed my picks. There were a lot of expensive items that I had my eye on, but I have a hard time spending a lot of money on myself. Did you buy anything from the #NSale?

Until next post...xoxo Becca

Favorite Pin Friday | Volume 40

1 year ago last Friday I made my very first post here at Lexi & Lady. I JUMPED outside my comfort zone and decided to share anything that inspired me and every day life. Happy 1 year (+ 1 week) blogiversary! Thanks for hanging in there with me as I share random stuff :)

Today's Favorite Pin Friday focuses on that season right around the corner...spring! While I do love fall/winter clothes (all those cozy sweaters, boots, and scarves), I like the lighter fabrics and colors. Here are a few pins that came up on the Pinterest recently. With temperatures here already reaching high 70s I'm ready to bust out some skirts and pastels heehee

What are you most excited about this spring? I hope everyone has a good Valentine's weekend. Until next post...xoxo Becca

Redecorating and Recent Purchases

Moving to a new place makes me want to redecorate. In this case it's to keep the space light and airy. The majority of the furniture we own is dark and heavy, but with such a small space I need to change things up without breaking the bank. Here are a few recent purchases for the apartment.

Pier1
The artwork was purchased online and will be shipped to my local Pier1 for pickup. I want to add this piece to our living room above the sofa. The sofa is a dark chocolate brown and I feel the artwork we have currently does nothing to bring character (or color) to the space. Once this piece is hung I'll find fun pillows and curtains to brighten the space. Doesn't hurt this mosaic was on sale plus a coupon code brought the price down even more! I'm always looking for a good deal. Keep reading for another good deal...

I would also like to find a beautiful wingback chair to place in front of the window for added seating and a cozy feel.

Still searching for a coffee table too...this is proving more difficult than I thought it would be.

Pier1
Again, my goal is to lighten up the space and add character. I picked these woven panels to serve as decoration above our master bed since we've opted to store our headboard. I bought two panels and plan to hang them horizontally. The color is "champagne" so I may add more metallic touches with these lamps from Kirklands. If Pottery Barn ever has a sale on bedding I want to purchase this quilt in porcelain blue to break up the dark blues of our bedding. So let me know if you hear of a sale or coupon code. K? Thanks! :P

Recent purchase for myself include:

Kendra Scott  | Nordstrom | Nordstrom
I'm not one to spend a lot on something that's a fad...*cough* Kendra Scott jewelry. I think some of their pieces are gorgeous and have been gifted several pieces I love. That being said, a good friend (and loyal Lexi & Lady follower, you know who you are) told me about the 50% off discount Kendra Scott offers during your birthday month. Am I late to the party? I had no idea about this. Well, October just happens to be the hubs' birthday month so as his birthday gift to me I picked out these Alex earrings in slate. I wear a lot of black, white, and gray toned clothes so these go with a lot.

This dress is a must have! I originally tried in on as an option for the bachelorette party in New Orleans, but refused to spend $168 for it. THEN it went on sale for $100 and I couldn't pass it up. Wore it to our friends' recent wedding and felt amazing in it. Not only is it a sexy little number, but it has pockets! Thank the dress making lords...a girl could always use pockets to hold some lipgloss. Have an event coming up? Give this dress a shot. I had to size up, keep that in mind.

As previously mentioned, these Lesley boots from UGG have finally been purchased for our New York trip in December. They've arrived and fit really well. I purchased them in black since again...I wear a lot of black, white, and gray tones lol

And I'll leave you with an adorable picture of Lexi in her pumpkin shirt taken on Halloween. Hope everyone is recovering from their sugar induced comas, I know I'm struggling. Need to get back in the gym and back to clean eating. I see a lot of Juice Plus shakes in my future!

Until next post..xoxo Becca

#NSale - Women's Clothing

Favorite Pin Friday has been replaced this week, but will return next week. If you've been following Lexi & Lady for awhile you know I love to shop. There is something about new clothes, well fitting clothes, and statement pieces that can bring a girl some confidence. When I shop I look for items that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I want to get the most bang for my buck. We aren't all millionaires! I keep my eyes open for sales.

That being said, who has shopped the Nordstrom sale? I avoided the store at all costs. It's also really hard to think about fall and winter clothing with it's hot and humid (thank you Texas)! Here are some of the clothing items I ran across that I think would be good staples in anyone's closet. A lot of the items come in different colors, but the shape and style is what I think makes them key pieces to add to your wardrobe. This cape jacket screams Olivia Pope to me. P.S. When is Scandal coming back!?

Yes I skipped shoes and accessories; coming Monday so check back. Don't forget, the sale ends August 3 and there is FREE shipping.

Until next post...xoxo Becca

Going to Cali

Wow what a busy weekend! My sister-in-law graduated from Texas A&M University two weeks ago and Saturday was her graduation party. It turned out great and the BBQ was delicious. Before going to the party I went shopping because there were a lot of sales going on. The hubs and I are going with his parents to Newport Beach, California in 1 week! I'm so excited! They travel frequently and I am looking forward to spending some time with the in-laws and relaxing.

I've never been to California so I'm not sure what to pack or what to expect with the weather. I've been keeping an eye on the forecast and it seems like highs of 71-74 each day. MUCH cooler than the weather we have in Texas. My goal is to pack jeans, light long sleeve or 3/4 length sleeve tops, light sweaters, and several sandal type shoes. I think layers are going to be the way to go. If anyone has advice...please leave me a comment.

Here are a few of my recent purchases:

DSW | Comfy and several colors to choose from

Lucky Brand | On sale at Macy's $27.99

Old Navy | On sale $22

Topshop | On sale at Nordstrom $39.99
Hope you have a great week! I'll be back on Friday with Favorite Pin Friday.
Until next post...xoxo Becca

Rain Rain Go Away

Rain rain go away, come again another day. Does anyone remember this from their childhood? Our desire for the rain to go away probably stemmed from wanting to go outside to play or have recess during school. As an adult and homeowner I'm happy to see the rain watering my yard and flowerbeds. I will follow that statement with this one...enough is enough. This has been the rainiest season I can remember, especially during the "summer" months. Typically by this time of the year all us Texans are begging for winter weather. Instead, I just want to see some sun!

Somehow I managed to make it through 4 years of college with no rain boots. How? I have no idea because our campus has areas where water pools. On several occasions I remember walking across campus barefoot because my flip flops wouldn't stay on my feet from the water suctioning them off.

Fast forward years after college and I'm starting to think I need to invest in rain boots (or a boat at this point). The ever popular Hunter rain boots are outside my budget and I thought this may be the case for others. Here are a few budget friendly rain boots and because I'm from the south...where to get monogram decals for your new rain boots ;)

1. Nordstrom 2. Target 3. Decals, Etsy 4. DSW

Good luck staying dry my friends! Until next post...xoxo Becca

For the Love of Floppy Hats

This is a continuation of last week's summertime fun which featured cover-ups. Today is all about floppy hats. All women should be concerned with protecting their skin. Especially us fair skin girls. As a natural redhead with fair skin and freckles I know the perils of spending too much time in the sun. My advice to all women is to invest in good sunscreen, wear hats, and replenish your skin with a rich lotion post-sun. SPF in your daily makeup is a good idea too.

Last summer my family took at trip to Grand Cayman and by far the best investment I made (besides a well fitting swimsuit) was a floppy hat. I will say, packing that thing was a pain, but completely worth it.

Hats don't have to only be worn at the beach with a swimsuit, Andee over at The Honeybee is always rocking hats. She is gorgeous and so stylish! You should go check out her blog if you get a chance.
